Jayden Houghton is a first year IT student making his way into the innovative and creative tech industry.
Jayden is an 18 year old student based in Nelson, New Zealand. He is a 1st year
student at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT),
studying a Bachelor of Information Technology. His plan is to major in system's
development, for a career in web or software development.
Jayden has been passionate about all things tech since he was a child, and has been
learning to code since he was in primary school. He has also dabbled in electronics,
game development, machine learning and VR.
He has a strong interest in web and program development, which is the career path he
wishes to pursue. He is currently learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Git and Python,
but has also experimented with basic C# and PHP.
While Jayden's main focus is completing his degree, he has been working on a few projects, including this
website as a portfolio. He is also working on a few other projects, including an SQL database, a game with
Unity Engine, discord bots, building his own version of BASIC, learning advanced concepts with Python programs
and experimenting with VR.
He is currently looking for a part time job or apprenticeship in the tech industry around study, and is open to
any opportunities.
As well as technology, Jayden is interested in music and gaming. He plays the drum kit and bass
guitar. He also enjoys tramping and mountain biking. He has been a keen gamer since
he was young, and would like to develop games in the future. He has also achieved his
Queen Scout Award, Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, Gold Student Volunteer Army Award, Endorsed with
Excellence throughout NCEA level 1 to 3, and is a published author.
